Thanks Firies

In the week of Monday 10th to Thursday 13th of November, a bushfire moved through the forest west of Tobacco Road, from near the chook-farm to just a kilometre or two north of Greenup Road.

Water bombers, a spotter plane, a helicopter and a dozer were fully engaged, and at least a dozen fire trucks at a time. Crews alternated on long shifts as others arrived. There was full back-up rom SES and I’m told police door-knocked to warn residents that they may be told to leave. Warwick area managed the incident.

Happily, the fire was brought under control before the rain late on Thursday helped finish it off.

That was all due to skilful and dedicated hard work from many people in Emergency Services. Most of them were volunteers who still had “Day Jobs” to go to.

All thanks to the firies and others, whose work undoubtedly saved many residents’ homes, as well as forest.
